What are Modern School Portraits?

We begin with a lighthearted and fun atmosphere where kids can relax and be themselves. Then we add a simple backdrop and let the children's personalties fill the images. The results are genuine and timeless portraits that are far from the cheesy poses and busy backgrounds in traditional school photography.

What is a Modern School Portrait session like?  

Students come ready for photographs at their scheduled time. Each session takes approximately 15 minutes. (Which is usually more than enough time) I have boxes and stools for them to sit and stand on. I enjoy chatting and having fun with the kids. Parents are welcome to stay and watch or hang out in the waiting area. (whatever is best for your student) 

What ages do you photograph? Does my child have to be in school? 

I photograph all ages! No, they do not have to be school age.

Can siblings be photographed together? 

Sure! Just make sure to sign each sibling up for a 15 minute time slot next to each other. 

How much does this cost?

Modern Portrait Session fee is $20 per student. This reserves your time (no images included)

Single Digital Files are $50

(1 student) Gallery of Digital Files  $125 

(2 students) Gallery of Digital Files $100 (per gallery) 

(3 students) Gallery of Digital Files $75 (per gallery)

* Each Student gallery generally has between 5-10 unique images in color + B&W

How will I view and order my child(ren)s photos?

About 1 week after the photo day, families will receive a link to an online proofing gallery. There will be 5-10 images of each child. Digital photos can be ordered directly from the student’s gallery. (proofing gallery will be available for ordering for 7-10 days) Once your order is placed, digital files will be available immediately through a digital download.

Why are the photos horizontal and vertical? 

It's just my personal and artistic style. I always try to make sure there is one "traditional" portrait style image in the gallery. 

Why is are there photos of my student looking away / not smiling / laughing with their eyes closed?

Again, just my personal preference. I love capturing unique expressions and I have found a lot of families love them too! 

What day and time are you offering the Modern School Portraits?
